Queer Kickboxing Club Chicago

Get fit while having fun!

QKC Chicago’s Mission & History

QKCC’s mission is to provide fun, safe, & accessible kickboxing & mma to the QTGNC community at large. We utilize a sliding scale model to affirm that everyone should be able to train, no matter what. All are welcome, but active allyship is a minimum, and this space is centered on QTGNC people.

QKCC was created in April of 2019, to fill a much needed void in the martial arts community at large. When our founder moved back to Chicago in 2018, they felt QKCC was needed as a response to what seemed to be the only available options at that time: dojos that were ridden with toxic cisgender, heteronormative, & machismo-fueled energy. Inspired by their own personal desire for a Queer centered haven, and paired with community requests for a similar space, QKCC started as a small mostly friends mma club, and was opened to the public soon after, thanks to many donations from our amazing community. Join us in building a safer future for Queer & Trans people!

Training style & facilities:

We train in a hybrid style of kickboxing/MMA. Currently, we are solely training outdoors to keep everyone as safe as possible. Masks & vaccinations strongly encouraged, as well as Covid testing & precautions. We rotate locations around the city & can travel some depending on where you are. Once you are scheduled we provide location privately.

There are single stall bathrooms in both the lobby & basement area, & the building is very queer populated/friendly and accommodating. No one has ever had any issues, but if this is of particular concern to you, please speak with Grant.

Grant is the head trainer/instructor & holds a black belt in Seido Karate. He has 20+ years of martial arts & fitness experience, including but not limited to: traditional formal Japanese Karate, mixed martial arts, boxing & KickBoxing, strength training & lifting, yoga, and a variety of other activities. (You can view some videos of his training @qkcchicago.) He has taught students of all ages, from 2-72, in Chicago, New Orleans, & NYC, & can tailor your sessions to your fitness needs!
